After a six-year career as a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County, I decided to do that which is the most important profession in this world – teach. I had the good fortune to teach social studies at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara for 21 years. Advanced Placement United States History was my forte, but AP World History and AP European History also became favorites.
Coaching the San Marcos Mock Trial Trial Team to 14 Santa Barbara County Championships and two California State Championships highlighted the tremendous opportunity to work with young people interested in law. A wonderful life change has now brought me to Scottsdale, Arizona and I have been teaching for the past five years at Mountain Pointe High School in the Tempe Union High School District.
Again, the rewards of teaching these kids and opening their lives and souls to World History cannot be easily expressed – but it is simply the most important and most joyous life one could have.
