My name is Alan Siegel and I was a CATOY in 2005. I recently retired after a 31 year career. I taught my first 10 years in middle school so I know that curriculum very well. In addition I taught the last 21 years at a continuation high school in a multigenerational poverty community. I was the first ever alternative education teacher to become a state teacher of the year. I have had to wear many hats and never thought I would become such an expert on helping kids who grew up with trauma in poverty. I have a particular style that empowers kids to become better people and citizens. I am planning on putting out a true restorative justice discipline module and have a lot of expertise in training students to be leaders through community service and student council. I have a lot of experience in developing a successful school culture and running all sorts of activities to have fun with and empower students. I ran(with over 30 students a year) the LL community Memorial Day parade for 15 years and my band played the luncheon after the parade. I would love to help your school develop a successful culture. At my school we called it the “Carle Way”.
